Colleen Coffey, of the Virtual Dual Immersion Project at the International Jesuit Network, will speak about the Virtual Global Language and Cultural Exchange Program at Marquette University, which recently won a multi-year Mellon Grant for its work. The program, which seeks to develop language skills and cultural knowledge through weekly one-on-one teleconferences between beginning-level language students and native speakers, has grown from 38 students to 560 students over the course of only seven semesters. In line with her interest in teleconferencing, Ms. Coffey will be speaking to us virtually via Skype. Refreshments will be provided.
